Novak Djokovic Wore a $52,700 Watch Made Out of His Own Rackets

Like fellow racket players Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic is a north star in the watch world. In fact, this week he was spotted at the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit in Qatar wearing his own collaborative piece with Hublot.

After switching allegiances from Audemars Piguet to Seiko in 2014, he joined the Hublot family in 2021 – a fitting home given the brand’s embrace of cutting-edge, lightweight materials and advanced technological designs. While he has been spotted in pieces like Fusion Black Magic during formal occasions, he… Big bang series – with its oversized cases, bright colors and rubber straps – looks more natural on the 24-time Grand Slam winner’s wrist.

However, the latest Big Bang is a more natural wrist partner for the Joker. The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic bears not only Djokovic’s name, but also many technical achievements and Easter eggs: the watch is incredibly lightweight thanks to its unique composition of epoxy resin and quartz powder. It weighs just 49.5 grams, meaning Djokovic may be able to play on the court as Nadal often did with Richard Mille’s chops. But that’s not all that makes the box material special — it’s also filled with head rackets and recycled Lacoste polo shirts from Djokovic’s 2023 season.

Another fun fact about Djokovic: The Big Bang Unico is lighter than a tennis ball. In addition to its ventilated case, Hublot also replaced the sapphire crystal with Gorilla Glass and used aluminum instead of copper in the movement plates for the gram pieces. The four available straps – white elastic, light blue Velcro, blue elastic, and a Lacoste tennis wristband – also help keep the weight down.

Beyond the lightness of the watch, there are other nods to tennis present in its design. The upper chronograph pusher, five-minute indicators and seconds hand share a green and yellow color with a tennis ball, and the Djokovic logo is found on the oscillating weight of the automatic caliber as well as on the counterweight of the seconds hand. The pushers that activate the chronograph are also shaped like a tennis ball.

The combination of sky blue case material with lime green and white accents makes it a beautiful piece, and one that works while wearing uniforms on the field as well as in streetwear while cruising around the Formula 1 paddock.

Jason Tatum Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon

Jayson Tatum continues to flex his watch game with the addition of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon, which is the kind of watch one buys when a regular tourbillon just doesn’t cut it anymore. To be fair, we can’t fault it too much for its choice of wristwear: this special edition RO is housed in an 18k yellow gold case with a matching bracelet, a smoked yellow gold Grand Tapisserie dial, and a bezel set with baguette-cut diamonds and hour markers. And that’s before we even get to the flying tourbillon, which either increases chronometer accuracy or attracts a lot of middle-aged obsessive watch collectors at a Geneva cocktail party like moths to a flame…Or both.

Sebastien Stan Panettiere de Cartier

star trainee– the movie, not the TV show – Sebastian Stan was working his way through Cartier’s works. In addition to the beautiful platinum turtleneck he wore in October to the London Film Festival and the Crash hit he rocked at the Met Gala in May, he’s now added a Panthère de Cartier to the mix. What was once seen as a distinctly feminine silhouette has now become a unisex watch embraced by countless stylish men. But Stan is no ordinary tiger. This medium-sized model in 18k yellow gold features a diamond-paved bezel as well as a diamond-paved inner dial.

Patrick Dempsey Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph Extreme Sport

Playing a sexy doctor, driving a fast car, and wearing a premium chronograph. As my grandmother says: “We should all be so lucky!” The TAG Heuer collection for Patrick Dempsey now includes the Carrera Chronograph Extreme Sport, an ultra-luxe version of the brand’s iconic racing watch produced in 1963 and named in honor of the Carrera Panamericana race. Powered by the TH20-00 automatic movement, it features a 44mm gold and titanium case and a stunning skeletonized dial with 18k rose gold accents. With a black ceramic bezel and grade 2 titanium parts, it is an expression of advanced technology for a clearly utilitarian piece with decades of history. At $12,500, it’s not much more expensive than the non-structural steel versions, especially considering the precious metal elements. Now here’s the bad news: it is no Comes with 1963 Porsche 356.

Rolex Day Date by Jacob Elordi

Jacob Elordi has progressed from the Louis Cartier Tank to the Rolex Day-Date with the evolutionary grace of a well-designed Pokemon (a huge compliment). What used to be a rectangular gold dress watch with a leather strap, is now a round gold VIP watch with a solid gold “President” bracelet. More points are given to Elordi for choosing a five-figure model from the 1970s or 1980s, which, when taken together with his strapless tuxedo and scruffy beard, puts him roughly halfway along the way.
