Just as Barry Keoghan could jump out of his Mad Hatter-themed costume for this year’s Met Gala, the Irish actor donned a comfy tracksuit and a reliable urban pair to hit the afterparties. The fresh white Nike Air Force 1s are Keoghan’s favorite sneaker; He’s worn them to fashion weeks, music festivals, and, as it turns out, most workout sessions.
on Last episode From Complex’s “Sneaker Shopping” video series, the Oscar-nominated actor sat down with host Joe La Puma to discuss his shoe proclivities. When they broached the topic of Air Force 1s, Keoghan admitted – to La Puma’s shock – that he wears the iconic basketball shoe for running.
“I go running in Air Force 1s, and they’re probably the worst for running,” Keoghan says, adding that he’s gone six to seven kilometers in lower AF1 levels that aren’t particularly bouncy. But it doesn’t stop there. “I skip, I train, everything (in them) — I don’t even mess around. They’re just comfortable,” he says. “I wear them in everything.”
He only recently acquired a pair of proper running shoes, although he said that once he put them on, it “felt like it wasn’t right.”
The Dublin native tells La Puma that he personally believes the AF1 is the best shoe ever made, and that he wears it every day. “I do everything, even sleep in it,” Keoghan joked. “No, I don’t sleep in them. I go to bed with them sometimes.”
La Puma inquires further, even referencing a scene in Spike Lee’s 1986 debut You should get itwhen the camera pans down to reveal that Lee’s character Mars leaves Jordan during sex.
“Different time, different story,” Keoghan protests. But there have been cases, he admits, “when I’m sitting on the bed with shoes on, and I’m told, ‘Take these shoes off the bed.'”
Well, as Keoghan’s friend, Sabrina Carpenter, might respond: Have you ever tried this one?
